Around the Chase
The beautiful Fair Oak Pools lie along the inviting wooded valley, where a firm, even surface creates easy walking for all members of the family.
Mountain Bike Trails: Cannock Chase is a magnet to the biking community. Trails vary:
“Follow the Dog” (Red) 11 km; “The Monkey Trail” (Red with Black options) 24 km;
“Fair Oak Family Trail” (Green) 4 km; the two Sherbrook Loops: “Pepperslade Loop”

Military History: Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, was the site of Military Camps in the late 19th c., in the 1st and 2nd World Wars and of an RAF training camp on Marquis Drive into the 1950s. Refugees from the 1956 Hungarian Revolution were housed in the closed RAF camp. Concrete bases of the huts remain, but few vestiges of the Military Hospital at Brindley Village exist.
A scale model of the 1st World War Belgian battlefield, Messines Ridge,will be based at the Marquis Drive Visitors’ Centre.

Enjoy healthy, exhausting sports; relax amongst the flora and fauna; spot the camouflaged deer amongst the undergrowth and observe the buzzards circling above.
