Cannock Chase Holiday Cottages Staffordshire

The beautiful Fair Oak Pools lie along the inviting wooded valley, where a firm, even surface creates easy walking for all members of the family.

Around the Chase

Mountain Bike Trails: Cannock Chase is a magnet to the biking community. Trails vary: “Follow the Dog” (Red) 11 km; “The Monkey Trail” (Red with Black options) 24 km; “Fair Oak Family Trail” (Green) 4 km; the two Sherbrook Loops: “Pepperslade Loop” (Blue) 12km and “Abraham’s Loop” (Blue) 20km. Style Cop Bike Park. Two down-hill sister trails exist at the steep Style Cop hill: unsuitable for inexperienced riders. Even a child-friendly “Mini Trail”, on grass around the edges of the field at the Holiday Cottage site, excellent for the children to play.

Military History: Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, was the site of Military Camps in the late 19th century, in the 1st and 2nd World Wars and of an RAF training camp on Marquis Drive into the 1950s. Refugees from the 1956 Hungarian Revolution were housed in the closed RAF camp. Concrete bases of the huts remain, but few vestiges of the Military Hospital at Brindley Village exist.

A scale model of the 1st World War Belgian battlefield, Messines Ridge, will be based at the Marquis Drive Visitors’ Centre.

Children’s Secure Playground: 5 mins. at Marquis Drive Centre.

Enjoy healthy, exhausting sports; relax amongst the flora and fauna; spot the camouflaged deer amongst the undergrowth and observe the buzzards circling above.

Or, catch a massive carp in the  Fair Oak Pools.
